FDIC Standard Deposit Insurance Coverage Permanently Increased to $250,000

The current standard maximum deposit insurance amount (SMDIA) has been permanently increased to $250,000.  This permanent change is due to The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which was signed by the President on July 21, 2010.     

The standard maximum deposit insurance amount of $100,000 had been temporarily raised to $250,000 until December 31, 2013.

The Bank of Carbondale participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program

The Bank of Carbondale is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program, which has been extended through December 31, 2010.  Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account.  Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
